How to Apply a Nasal Strip So It Stays On All Night (or All Session)

How to Apply a Nasal Strip So It Stays On All Night (or All Session)

A nasal strip that falls off didn't fail, it was applied to skin that wasn't ready. Done right, a good strip survives a full training session or a full night of sleep, then peels off clean. Here's the exact routine.

The 3-step application

Step 1: Clean and dry (the step everyone skips)

Wash the bridge of your nose with plain soap or a face wash, then dry it completely. Skin oil, sunscreen, moisturizer, and sweat are the four things that kill adhesion. If you're mid-session and already sweating, wipe the area with a dry towel and give it 30 seconds.

Step 2: Position across the flare, not the bone

The strip belongs on the widest soft part of your nose, roughly two-thirds of the way down, across the flare above the nostrils. Too high (on the hard bone) and it lifts nothing; too low (touching the nostril rim) and it peels when you talk. Centered, straight, ends resting on the sides of the nose.

Step 3: Press for a full 10 seconds

Press firmly along the whole strip, center first, then both ends, for a slow count of ten. Adhesive bonds with warmth and pressure; the difference between 2 seconds and 10 seconds of pressing is the difference between a strip that quits at 2 a.m. and one you forget you're wearing.

You'll know it's working immediately

The moment you let go, breathe in through your nose. You should feel the sides of your nose being held open, airflow feels wider, quieter, easier. If you feel nothing, the strip is probably sitting too high on the bone.

Why strips fall off (and the fix for each)

  • Oily or creamed skin → wash and fully dry first; apply moisturizer after removal instead.
  • Applied mid-sweat → towel off, wait 30 seconds, then apply. Once bonded, sweat-rated adhesive holds; it just can't bond to a wet surface.
  • Too high or crooked → reposition across the soft flare. A fresh strip sticks best, which is one reason WARPAINT strips come individually sealed, each one is factory-fresh, sterile and shape-locked when you open it.
  • Rushing the press → the full 10 seconds, every time.

Removing it without drama

Peel slowly from one end while holding the skin taut with the other hand, ideally after a warm shower, when the adhesive is soft. Don't rip it off dry like a plaster; that's how you irritate skin, and it's completely avoidable.

Quick answers

Can I reuse a strip? No, adhesive is single-use by design. Each pack has 30.
Will it work on oily skin? Yes, if you degrease first (step 1 is non-negotiable).
Sensitive skin? Test one on the back of your hand for a few hours first.
